What an amazing first day with crystal clear skies and mid-80 degree weather up here at Camp Inc.! We started the day with a handful of staff and finished with a very full camp made up of incredible campers and staff from 6 countries, including 21 different states.
I know that for all of our campers, the anticipation, excitement and nervousness for the first day of camp is always a lot, and this excitement builds up to the second they step off the bus at camp.
The theme of the day was “Welcome Home”, and from the instant the bus arrived, there was music playing, every camper received a welcome home letter from the staff, and within 15 minutes each cabin was off on an scavenger hunt called “The Path Back Home” where they got to meet different staff members, tour camp, learn some camp songs, grab a snack in the dining hall, and of course…do a first day med check with Janice.
After a great dinner, we had our first campfire of the session, telling stories and singing songs – I saw some pretty tired eyes so they were off to bed right after that.
Tomorrow gets our business and tech programs started. Our first guest rolls in Monday night, and will be Joel Appel, a friend of mine and the founder and president of the Orange Glo / Oxi Clean / Kaboom brand of products. He will be speaking about entrepreneurship, building a brand, and investing in companies.
Throughout the day, everyone will have a chance to do some recreational activities including rock climbing, gaga, hiking and more.
As I’ve said before, our goal is to return your Camp Inc. camper back home a better version of themselves through their new friends, business and tech experiences, and Jewish values.
