The Final Countdown

OreoFaceSmallerIt is Wednesday night, and a week from now camp will be completely quiet for the season.  Pretty crazy to think about the summer being over!

But right now, it’s anything but quiet.  We just finished an all camp version of “Minute to Win It” in our theater. Campers were sliding Oreos down their faces, bouncing ping pong balls into tiny cups, and moving cotton balls across a stage using only their nose and some Vaseline.

Let me fill you in on what’s in store for the next 7 days…

We currently have an amazing guest entrepreneur staying on the property. Josh Dinar, owner of Dining Out Magazine, a number of restaurants and various other businesses, came this morning as our guest mentor and spent hours working with each of our startup teams.

Our 11 camper startup teams are finalizing their marketing strategy and beginning to prepare their pitch decks for next Monday’s final pitch day at the Chief Theater. Each day they are working on a couple of the slides needed for their presentations.

Everyone’s logos were due today and all of their startup t-shirts were ordered and will be screened this weekend. The logos look incredible!

Tomorrow, we have a break from business, as everyone heads to Stagecoach State Park for several hours of playing on the beach, and taking out paddle boards, kayaks, and canoes.  And then after dinner, my favorite evening activity, The All Camp Talent Show!

We still have a few fantastic guest entrepreneurs coming up to camp.  On Friday, Leslie Kimmerling will be visiting from Double Helix Optics – a startup spun out of the University of Colorado, Boulder that develops and commercializes computational optical-digital technologies used in range estimation, super-resolution microscopy and 3D imaging.

On Sunday and Monday we will be hosting Tanya Hamilton, the CEO of a youth entrepreneurship organization called Independent Youth, as well as one of
her super star teen entrepreneurs, Remmi Smith, the CEO of Cook Time With Remmi.

Sunday night will be pitch prep night and then the big day is on Monday where all of our campers present to a panel of investor judges.

For a final pitch day celebration we will be heading to the Old Town Hot Springs after dinner to relax after a long journey taking a brand new idea and pitching it to the Sharks!

Tuesday is the last full day of camp, filled with sports, all camp games, cabin cleanup and an exciting final night banquet where our camper teams sign their startup shirts and hang them on the walls of camp where they will live forever.

It will be an action packed week and your campers will be home before you know it!
